After receiving my Ph. D. degree, I accepted a job teaching at Ball State University where I have been ever since. Over the years I have taught courses in Statistics, Research Methods, Psychology of Adjustment, Psychology of Learning, Cognition, and Motivation & Emotion. My association with this last course led me to write an accompanying textbook, Motivation: Biological Psychological, and Environmental, published by Allyn and Bacon. In addition to continuing to teach Motivation & Emotion, I have begun teaching a course in the History and Systems of Psychology. My research interests have ranged from humor to self-control. I conducted research in the psychology of humor for many years.
